    Home care in 2017

    Providers can now access the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency’s ‘Commencing services assessment module’ to prepare for home care service delivery from 27 February 2017.

    Under the Australian Government’s new Increasing Choice in Home Care, Australian consumers will be provided with more choice in accessing home care services.  Home care is about providing support services to help people stay living independently in their homes for longer.  For information on Increasing Choice in Home Care please see the Department of Health website.

    Commencing services assessment module

    For providers commencing in home care, the home care Commencing services assessment module is a tool that helps you to assess service readiness against the home care standards.

    This module is a broad look at the service across the following key expected outcomes:

    • 1.1 Corporate governance – focus on reporting and monitoring
    • 1.2 Regulatory compliance – focus police checks
    • 1.6 Risk management
    • 1.7 Human resource management
    • 2.2 Assessment
    • 2.3 Care plan development and delivery
    • 3.1 Information provision
    • 3.3 Complaints and service user feedback
