2014 Better Practice Award winners
This year’s Better Practice Award winners have been announced at the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency’s Better Practice conference in Sydney.
The 37 Award winners were announced by Quality Agency CEO Nick Ryan, at the opening of the two-day conference on Thursday, 27 August.
The winners represent 124 individual aged care homes and reward programs ranging from hearing assistance programs to staff rewards programs, a bucket list program and a beer brewing club.
“We introduced the Better Practice Awards four years ago as a way of recognising those homes that excel at what they do. They don’t just meet minimum standards but they are strong examples of innovation and excellent care of older Australians,” CEO Nick Ryan said.
“Over the four years of the Awards, winners have told us in no uncertain terms, that winning a Better Practice Award has been a highlight of their career, and that the results for the residents and staff are outstanding. It is wonderful to be able to provide the avenue for such recognition, respect and reward.”
“The award winners are great examples of innovation and customer focus. The programs have been well thought out, researched and planned and most importantly – affect residents’ lives in a positive way,” he said.
“Winning programs range from the seemingly simple yet amazingly effective – to the complex, comprehensive and revolutionary.
“I congratulate the Better Practice Award winners on this recognition – these awards demonstrate commitment of your management, staff, residents and families to providing high quality care,” he said.
