April 2017

Message from the CEO

Hello everyone

I am writing to you from the CEO office while Nick Ryan is on leave.

This month service providers of residential aged care homes need to be aware of some important developments regarding accreditation fees and standards.

Firstly the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency has released the Cost Recovery Implementation Statement (CRIS), which gives effect to the new fee schedule for accreditation services following consultation with the sector last year. The fees are effective from 19 May 2017.

As a regulator we work with the sector to ensure transparency and accountability.  Our CRIS is an important way of giving visibility to how our accreditation activities are costed.

Please see this issue of the Quality Standard, and the Quality Agency’s website at http://www.aacqa.gov.au/for-providers/cost-recovery for information on the changes.

In another important development, the Department of Health is currently undertaking public consultations on the draft new standards and streamlining options for accreditation. You will find key dates and links in this issue of the Quality Standard – noting that submissions on the Single Aged Care Quality Framework close 21 April.

Also this month – 30 April is the deadline for nominating for our Better Practice Awards, and now is a good time to register for our Darwin and Melbourne Better Practice Conferences.  With a packed program of specialist speakers, workshops and networking events, we are really looking forward to seeing you there.
