Quality Agency education seminar series for Approved providers

The Quality Agency has a role to play in supporting the aged care sector to address the important problems and emerging critical issues linked to areas of known risk.  As the aged care regulator, an important part of the Agency’s role is to positively influence sector behaviour, both to shift poor performers and to create opportunities to promote better practice and innovation across the sector.

As part of this approach we are launching a new way of engaging with Approved Providers and have introduced a national seminar series hosted by State Directors in our state offices.

The first of these seminar series is A spotlight on serious risk and infection control

and will cover two vital areas :

    • Infection Control- the issue of infection control is of paramount importance – particularly with our current experience of one of the worst influenza seasons in years; and
    • Serious risk - Looking at the consequences and management of failure which has placed or may place a care recipient at serious risk to their safety health and wellbeing

These seminars will include an information update on these important areas, together with the opportunity for providers attending to share some of their own strategies and experiences through some targeted discussion on the seminar topics.  There will be two seminars run (morning and afternoon sessions) on each seminar topic, hosted by our State Directors in each state.  Space will be limited at each event, so registration will be restricted to one person per Approved provider. However, we do want to ensure broad sector access to these important discussions so each seminar topic will be recorded and available on our website.

There will be a choice of two seminar times for you to choose from:

    • Morning session from  9am-12pm and
    • an afternoon session 1.30pm-4.30pm.

At registration you will be asked to nominate your preferred session.

Please note there will be NO hard copy handouts provided at these seminars however the agenda and key handouts will be provided with your confirmation email following successful registration.  In addition we will include a link to the session presentations following completion of your post seminar evaluation which will be emailed to you, following the event.. We do suggest you bring a copy of the agenda and handouts to the session,  as well as something to take notes with.

There is no cost for attending this seminar. Each Approved provider can register ONE person to attend. If additional persons wish to registration, please email  and they will be placed on a ‘wait list’ and will be offered a place based on order of registration and available places.

We do want to ensure broad sector access to these important discussions which is why we are limiting places on initial registration.  In addition to this will be recording the Sydney seminar session and this will be made available for viewing via our website.

We will be seeking your feedback on these seminars and will ask that you complete our feedback form.
